What You Do:

Before the Activity: Place the bin of clothing items in the activity area.
During the Activity: Encourage the children to play dress-up with the clothing items and look at themselves in the mirror.
After the Activity: Place all clothing items back in the bin. Move the bin and mirrors out of the way for clean-up.
What You Say:
Before the Activity: “Hello! This month we’re learning that everyone is important to God. I have gathered some items of clothing. Let’s play dress-up! As you select your items and look in the mirror, remember, EVERYONE is important to God.”
After the Activity: “Tell me, are nurses and police officers important to God? (Pause.) Yes! Are mommies, daddies, brothers, and sisters important to God? (Pause.) For sure! Are office workers, teachers, doctors, builders, and postal workers important to God? (Pause.) YES!
“Are YOU important to God? (Pause.) Yes, you are! EVERYONE is important to God. You are important, no matter who you are. God loves us so much that He gave us Jesus. We’ll hear all about that in our Bible story today. Let’s go!”
Ask, “Does God loves little brothers?” or “Does God loves teachers?”. Examples: sisters, mommies, daddies, librarians, doctors, garbage men, cooks, veterinarians, dentists, grocery store workers, friends at school, neighbors farmers, custodians, and nurses.

What You Do:

  • Scatter the hula hoops around your small group area.
  • The 1st player stands in the middle of the room.
  • The 1st player says, “I like to [something they like to do].
  • Anyone who likes to do the same thing must quickly move to sit in a hula hoop.
  • The kid in the center also tries to grab a hula hoop to sit in.
  • Whoever is left standing (out of the kids who tried to grab a hula hoop), is now the player who calls out something they like to do.
  • If you have multiple kids who missed a hoop, choose someone who hasn’t been in the middle, yet.
  • Continue for several rounds.
What You Say:
“That was a fun game! We like to do so many things. I really like to eat! There was a giant feast in our story today. What do you remember about the feast?”
