Dear First Baptist Church Family and First Baptist Christian School Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter. After much prayer, Hal and I have made the decision that it is time for me to retire. Being Headmaster of First Baptist Christian School has been a great privilege and joy. It has been the perfect way to end my career… working with so many people I love and who have a passion for serving the Lord in His Church School Ministry.
Over the last eleven years it has been a blessing to have helped our school grow through eighth grade and move forward in so many ways. I helped implement our first FBCS School Board, led the writing of School Board Policies and handbooks for teachers and parents, led in achieving school accreditation, implemented a balanced budget, planned high level academics, helped our students achieve high scores on achievement testing, hired qualified and effective teachers, established a fabulous annual Gala, led in creating a sports program and so much more! What a joy for me to be a part of all of this growth!
I have been working with Pastor Ross and the First Baptist Christian School Board to help find the person that God is sending to replace me and who will continue to move our school forward. Hopefully, that person will be in place by August 1st. However, if that is not possible, I am willing to help get school started in August and September and request that the new Headmaster or an interim be in place by October 1st. It excites me to think of all of the children and families who have come to know the Lord over the 41 years that I have been a Christian School Leader. You and all of them will continue to be in my prayers and memory. Thank you for all of the support you have given me over the years. That has meant so very much to me! It has been an honor to serve with you and I know that God has mighty plans for First Baptist Christian School.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Love and God’s blessings always,
Dr. Sandra Phelps
