School is off to a good start this fall at First Baptist Christian School! We have enrolled 176 students to minister to this year! Not only do we reach 176 students every day for the Lord, but we also have an opportunity to reach their 352 parents with influence for the Lord and encouragement to become involved at First Baptist Church. Because of your support of our Church School Gala Fundraiser last March, we have been able to offer 28 of the students a partial scholarship for the 2016–17 school year. These are students who would not have been able to attend our school without help!! THANK YOU so much for donating to the Gala for scholarships! God may have mighty plans for some of these students because of your generosity!
FBCS is opening a new Toddler Class (ages 18 to 24 months). Please help us advertise that we need children for that classroom! The Toddlers will have a daily Bible story, sing songs about Jesus and learn to love one another, as Jesus did.
Last week, FBCS observed “See You at the Pole” day where students gather at flag poles at their schools and pray for our nation, our leaders, and our students, and that all of these people will humble themselves and pray and seek God’s favor on our nation! The FBCS Student Council led the prayers at “See You at the Pole”.
To bring you up to date, we are continuing to pray for funding for the Church and School playground. Thanks to your generosity, we have raised $25,858 of the $110,000 that we need to complete the playground. We have enough funding to begin the ground work for the playground site, which is just north of the pavilion, and I am pleased to announce that the ground work began last week! Please be praying with us for God’s help in this important area for the children of the Church and School. Donations may be made to either the Church Office or School Office. Thank you for your prayers to help make this happen for our children. Your contributions to the playground efforts, both financially and by volunteering when the playground is installed, will be of great help.
Please be praying for the wonderful School Board of First Baptist Christian School as they lead the Church School Ministry. Our school is in a very strong position because of the time, talents and faith of these wonderful Church members who lead us!
School Board Members include:
- Jill McCurdy (President)
- David Baker (Treasurer)
- Melinda Alford (Secretary)
- Celena Crawford
- Nancy West
- Gary Stone
- Steve Taylor
Steve Taylor is just coming on the Board this fall. Church Family, will you continue to pray Jeremiah 29:11 over our Church School Ministry as we continue seeking to bring God’s Word to the children of our School?
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
The following are some of the fall activities happening at school:
FBCS Spiritual Retreat
As you know, it is very important to us that all of the students come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We have the perfect environment to help them grow in the knowledge of the Lord and to help them become robust disciples for Jesus Christ. Who knows, we may be nurturing the next generation of missionaries or pastors. God tells us to “Go and teach”, and that is what we are doing. One way we do this is with the FBCS Spiritual Retreat for Middle School Students which we will hold later in October. The Retreat will be led by ministers of our Church. We appreciate their service and are looking forward to them helping us teach God’s Word in a different environment!
Operation Christmas Child
FBCS Student Council is helping lead one of the mission projects for our school. In addition to helping collect food for the food pantry, FBCS students will be participating in the Operation Christmas Child mission effort where students bring items to go in to shoeboxes for children around the World who may not get a Christmas gift. Included with the items in the shoe box is a pamphlet telling them how to come to know Jesus as their Savior. Students will be packing shoeboxes on Nov. 10th and praying over them to ask God to lead the boxes to children who need to know about Him.
FBCS has had an exciting fall with football and girls’ volleyball. FBCS combined with Faith Academy to have a Junior High Football team. Coach Russell Roberts, who is the Athletic Director at FBCS, coaches the team. The girls’ volleyball team is really having fun and growing in their skills. Janet Wood has done a good job as their coach. We had a Spirit Rally on Sept. 30th and had a “Knocker Ball Race” to cheer on the teams!
